IHSC - Indonesian Humanitarian Study Center (Pusat Studi Humanitarian, PSH), was established on 12 May 2026 under Rector's Decree No. 177/IIKNU/SK-PSH/A.1/L-14/V/2026 at the Institute of Health Sciences (IIK) Nahdlatul Ulama Tuban, under Rector Dr. H. Miftahul Munir, SKM., M.Kes., DIE. IHSC is managed by 25 officers: five academic fields, two bureaus, and the center's leadership.

Vision

To become a world-leading humanitarian study center integrating health sciences, law, and humanitarian action - grounded in Islamic values and national identity.

Mission

  • Conduct research in health in conflict and displacement, humanitarian ethics and law, disaster risk and response, humanitarian operations and management, and climate change.
  • Organize education and training to build the capacity of human resources in humanitarian affairs.
  • Build strategic partnerships with national and international institutions to strengthen humanitarian action.
  • Develop and disseminate Islamic perspectives within the global humanitarian discourse.

Every IHSC program is designed to bridge research and humanitarian action - each activity leads to capacity, policy, or real response.

Research & Evidence

Studying priority humanitarian issues - health in conflict and displacement, ethics and humanitarian law, disaster risk and response, humanitarian operations, and climate change. Outputs: scientific publications, policy briefs, and databases for policymakers and practitioners.

Education & Capacity Building

Certified training and courses: International Humanitarian Law (IHL), first aid and disaster preparedness, humanitarian operations management - for volunteers, health workers, academics, and the public.

Policy Advocacy

Translating research findings into concrete and executable policy recommendations - together with government, international organizations, and civil society partners.

Building community preparedness and volunteer networks that stand ready - trained in peacetime, effective in crises.
