The Inaugural Plenary: IHSC Begins Its Work

Pleno Perdana: IHSC Memulai Kerjanya

On 5 June 2026, the Indonesian Humanitarian Study Center (IHSC) held its inaugural plenary session via Zoom, marking the formal start of operations for Indonesia's newest humanitarian study center.

The plenary brought together all 25 officers - the five academic field coordinators, two bureau heads, the advisory board, and the center's leadership - to align on work frameworks, program priorities, and the roadmap for the 2026-2031 term.

A new kind of humanitarian institution

Unlike a research institute housed in a single discipline, IHSC is deliberately interdisciplinary - spanning health sciences, law, ethics, disaster management, and climate science - and deliberately grounded in the Islamic and Nusantara intellectual traditions of Nahdlatul Ulama.

"Knowledge, for real action."

Next steps

Each of the five academic fields is finalizing its work framework. Priority outputs include the launch of a regular journal discussion, an IHL training module, and the first research brief on community-based preparedness.
